Tremendous limited edition of the 1627 Chinese collection of stories, Hsing Shih Heng Yen (Common Tales to Rouse the World). Featuring five engravings from drawings by Eric Gill. Gill composed these images during the last week of his life and they were then engraved by his son-in-law Denis Tegetmeier. With an introduction by Arthur Waley. Limited to 350 copies (including 30 special editions) of which this is 106. 4to. (260x200mm) 139pp. Quarter leather, blue morocco, gilt titling and decoration to boards. Top edge gilt, fore-edge uncut. Sunning to spine, light rubbing to leather. Marking to rear board. Spotting to front matter, light occasional foxing throughout. Binding tight. A good copy.
