Pictures from Italy

Charles Dickens

Bradbury & Evans 1846

Binding:  Hardback  |  Condition: Good  |

Second edition of Dickens' travelogue, published in the same year and format as the first edition, apparently in small numbers. Written during Dickens' sojourn in Italy, where he visited the major cities and sights, he recounts his experiences in a characteristically witty and perceptive way. With woodcut illustrations by Samuel Palmer. Intricate blind-stamped to design to cloth covers. 12mo. (180x120mm) 270pp. + 2 pages of advertisements for Dickens' works. Rubbing and bumping to extremities. Toning and mild marking to covers. Occasional Light foxing to front-matter and very light tanning to page edges but contents otherwise clean and binding tight. A nice example. Good+
