Roman Breviary, 'restored by the decree of the most holy Council of Trent'. Printed in red and black by the company of Christophe Platin, towards the tail end of its existence. With similar texts bound in to rear, including pieces on St. Francis of Assisi and Pope Gregory by the same publisher in the same year. With engravings. Contemporary leather binding with marbled end-papers. Gauffered page edges. Elaborate blind-stamped and gilt decoration with the name CAMERO to cover. 12mo. Brass clasps removed with outlines, holes and residue apparent. Rubbing to leather with loss to spine. Gilt faded. Gutters split. Some sort of burn mark has made a hole to title page with staining to the next few leafs. Portion torn from one page with loss to text. Some leaves loose. Fair overall.
